How to design that which is collective in a group of homes?
A group of homes is more than the addition of individual units. It incorporates intermediate spaces between the houses themselves, and between the houses and their neighbourhood. This enables spaces for communal interaction. Theses spaces are interfaces between the private and the public realm, transitional places between the house and the street. As such they bring neighbours closer together, and they are where specific services that are necessary in community life can be located.
