Squatting unoccupied buildings

The PAH Social Project starts up in 2011 in order to defend the basic rights of citizens. Its first campaign was to re-house families with housing problems into unoccupied buildings as a reaction against an unjust law that allows a family to be evicted, once it has exhausted all judicial and administrative procedures. In May 2012 in Seville, a group organized the relocation of families into a building owned by a bank that had been empty for over three years: the place was named Corrala Utopía. From that date onward organized squatting of empty homes has been carried out by families in financial trouble. These actions are known as "corralas de vecinas" (The literal translation would be "neighbor's courtyards" using the feminine gender in Spanish).
